Open to Possibilities by Living Life as a Blank Slate

Posted on: April 1, 2012

I was talking to a friend the other day who is in process of making some big changes in her life, one of which is moving.  She was sharing how her new space was like a blank canvas in which she could create anything she wanted.  She was starting fresh with a blank slate.

Doesn’t a fresh start sound appealing?  We don’t have to move to get one.  We can empty a room and recreate it at any time.  The same is true for our lives.

Every day we make the choice of how we want to live.  Chances are, we have been making the same choices day after day for years without even thinking about it.  The same space.  Same people.  Same habits.    Same results.

It is easy to become entrenched in our lives and forget that every day is a new opportunity full of possibilities; a blank slate.  We can choose to live it the same as the day before or turn our life upside down just for the fun of it.  It’s our choice and we get to make it over and over again every day.

So, my questions for you as we face this new day, this new blank slate, is: “What are you going to choose to write on your slate today?”  Who knows, you might want to try something new.

Thank you for reminding us that every day is a blank slate.

This weekend I was reflecting on how much attention we give to making resolutions at the beginning of a year, but soon forget them as the year progresses. Each day we can resolve to take an action that moves us toward our goals. Each day is a start of a new year. When we take even one little action it sets in gear an eventual new outcome.

Today I chose to start my day by taking a walk to enjoy this beautiful day. As I walked I thanked God for gorgeous weather, my health and mobility, my lovely neighborhood, neighbors I greet along the way, and the opportunity that this new day gives me to shape my life as I wish. Once home, I have a full agenda lined up, but will make time to relax as well by reading a book this afternoon. Yippee!

Great reminder! Thanks for your thoughtful, and thought-provoking blogs. Always a great way to start the week.

Love & Blessings,
